Hey Holly,
I’m not Carol, but as a recent grad of the FTP, perhaps my experience would be of value to you.
First of all, as a Starliner, you’ve got a tremendous advantage having had so much experience as a TMI participant. I’ve only completed 3 programs; some in my class had only completed 2 which is the minimum requirement.
Next, the online assignments – reading and essay questions will really separate those who are determined from those who just want to dream about the possibilities. Took me weeks to complete, but I was dogged about getting through!
Then the week at TMI with the other FTP candidates! What a week – what a group of people. We had already demonstrated our technical knowledge, and now it was all about showing our heart. I was challenged in a very positive way!
Finally, it was getting out in the “real world”, making public presentations, and putting together my first Excursion. I invested in iPods, and wanted to have a “full house” of 12 participants. The night before, a couple signed up for my Valentine’s Day debut. I had started the process the previous June – eight months to make this “baby.” Others finished a few months sooner; some of my classmates are just putting on their first Excursion now.
I’m getting ready to do my second Excursion next month, and am looking forward to going to Mount Shasta for the event. Several of my classmates are planning their 3rd or 4th workshops. But no competition – it’s all about “getting it out there!”
Best to you – I’m sure you’ll enjoy this journey if you choose to enroll.
