TMI Podcast Episode #2

  • Google Buzz

We are excited to bring you the 2nd episode from the TMI podcast!  This week we are hearing from Peter Russell, creator of The Global Brain, and a TMI residential facilitator among many other things.  Peter has been hailed globally for his environmental stewardship and is dedicated to alleviate crisis through the exploration of consciousness.

In this episode, Peter discusses the important connection amongst all living things on earth.  In the simpliest terms, this fits the notion that life is all around us, but I promise that the discussion he presents is far from simple.

What is a podcast?

It’s a method of sending audio files over the internet. When you sign up for one, you’ll get new audio files delivered to your computer as they become available, which saves you the trouble of repeatedly checking to see if there’s anything new.

Why should I sign up?
With this and any other podcast, you should sign up if you’re interested in the content and want it brought to you automatically.

How do I subscribe to your podcast?
That depends on which program you’re using to listen to them. The most popular is Apple’s iTunes. From your personal iTunes account, choose “Subscribe to podcast” from the “Advanced” menu and enter the following text:

http://www.monroeinstitute.org/feed/podcast

What then?
Look in the “Podcasts” section of iTunes for new episodes and double-click to listen to them.

Hey, cool! So how does this work, exactly?
You pointed iTunes to a special address called a “feed,” which is just a very small and lightweight listing of audio files that gets updated whenever new material comes out. iTunes can then check the feed periodically and fetch any new audio files without having to bother you about it.

  • Russell is great but the music played in the background is really distracting

  • The question seems to be, what experience of consciousness is strong enough to willingly subordinate ego desire for free-will, justice, and liberty to the higher interests of the common welfare if liberty, justice, and free-will are to remain at all? Every translation of experience brought back to the operating rules of this dimension fails us when imposed and is eventually found lacking.

  • Does advance consciousness detached from "holy-reverence" or sense of the "sacred" disable us or enable us and who decides the value judgement?

  • I enjoyed listening to this podcast. I did not think the music was distracting in the least. It was very peaceful to listen to while taking in what Peter Russell is saying, it does not over power his voice or anything. I don't get many chances to talk to other intelligent people so, I really get into hearing other people's insights & theories.

  • I just finished reading the third book in the Monroe series, "Ultimate Journey." His contact with non-human intelligences in his OBEs indicated that they are not in the least interested in communicating or establishling contact with humans -- this might be comparable to a sophisticated adult trying to communicate with a two-year-old child. The quality of the communication would be very limited.

  • Just a note to say I enjoyed both podcasts tremendously -- please keep them coming!!!

Note to Rich Buckley: I think the key with transcending ego-based consciousness, or this suggesting of "subordinating it" can be handled by making one's ego "understand" that transendence does not necessarily mean "subordination." We don't as much subordinate the ego when we expand -- as take it with us along for the ride, so to speak.

For example, when I lucid dream, I "awaken" my ego-based consciousness into the dream consciousness. The ego-based mind gets to "ride along" so to speak -- it's there with us participating, and so is not threatened.

The idea is "incorporate" the ego into expanded mind -- not subordinate it, the way I see it. The ego is actualy needed as a fundamental layer which serves as a foundation beneath "higher" forms of consciousness.

  • After listening to Peter I am so glad to be able to deeply understand the value of harmony he mentions and how it affects all beings.
    Wishful thinking:
Imagine: Trouble on the streets and police dropping their tazers in favor of HemiSync harmonies and everyone starts to smile...

  • I enjoy the podcasts, anytime I can take a moment to relax and not have feel that I have to disagree with someone is very helpful, since most of us live or work in negative environments. I just wish that I could buy some of the material off my I-tunes. For example some of the Hemi-sync CD or DVD's. Toning sounds. Maybe you could take use 30 seconds prior to the start of the podcast.

    Just an idea!

    I wish everyone the best
