We have been adding a lot of video to the web over the last year, sharing some of the great multimedia that has come out of TMI. Recently, we uploaded a series of videos called "Wednesdays with Robert Monroe" highlighting some of the Wednesday night talks from the days when Bob would come and speak to the Gateway Voyage groups. Within that footage, we found a really special clip that's under 3 minutes, but has a message that is very relevant.
In this clip, Bob talks about the notion of a "peripheral personality", or the ways in which our personality is defined by the those with whom we interact. Without going into too much detail, the notion of taking a look at how we affect and are affected by those around us as a measure of who we are is a powerful reminder of the difference that each of us makes or is capable of making every day, both to ourselves and others. When we talk here at TMI about entertaining the notion of being more than a physical body, that conversation is not limited just to the parameters of being in a physical or non-physical state, but also about the relationships that we are forming, or the ripple effects generated by the ways that each of us moves through our life. Our actions, emotions, reactions and choices are all tied into being more than just skin and bones, as Bob puts it.
This seems like an important and timeless topic to raise, especially as we are continuing to encourage each of you to reach out to one another in the digital age and make connections in such a non-physical manner through our virtual community. While the traditional notion of connecting is still optimal, it's exciting to think that there are so many ways to communicate beyond our physical limitation of, if nothing else, distance.
