Hi All! We just wanted to thank you for helping to make the first Wisdom Series event such a success! A special thanks to Joe Pearce for ALL of the great information that he shared, and of course a thanks to Karen Malik and all of the folks at TMI, and to you for rallying to make the weekend happen!

As we discussed at the Workshop this past weekend, it would be really great if you guys would take a moment to share any feedback that you have about the weekend in this comment thread, and we’ll keep working to incorporate your feedback into the next workshop. (Just click, “Leave a Comment” below this post)

Also, I have a special request: If there is a generous soul out there that might be willing to search through his/her notes from the weekend and extract some of the MANY names, authors, researchers etc that Joe mentioned, I would love to put together a “Further Reading” section for those that are interested. You can email any names/titles etc that you come across to amelia.walton@monroeinstitute.org, and I’ll get cracking on the list!

Thank you again for contributing your time and energy to the weekend, my head is still spinning with all of the great information, and we will have the video and audio content available for downloading this week!

For nearly half a century, Joseph (Joe) Chilton Pearce has been probing the mysteries of the human mind. Author of The Crack in the Cosmic Egg, Exploring the Crack in the Cosmic Egg, Magical Child, Magical Child Matures, Bond of Power, and Evolution’s End, one of his overriding passions remains the study of what he calls the “unfolding” of intelligence in children. He is a self-avowed iconoclast, unafraid to speak out against the myriad ways in which contemporary American culture fails to nurture the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual needs and yearnings of our young people. Part scholar, part scientist, part mystic, part itinerant teacher, Pearce keeps in close touch with the most brilliant men and women in each field. He creates a unique synthesis of their work and translates the results into a common language.

World-renowned thinker, author, and advocate of evolutionary child-rearing practices, Pearce has expertise that spans a broad range of disciplines: psychology, anthropology, biology, and physics. He has been a seminal figure in the study of human consciousness and child development for over a quarter century. His greatest publishing success was the national bestseller, Magical Child, in which he delineated an exhaustive and visionary approach to child rearing, especially focused on support for the “nonviolent” birthing approach revived by LeBoyer, Lamaze, and Odent, and popularized by Sondra Ray. He has since written three other books, most recently, Evolution’s End, referring to the inherent potential which he claims lies dormant within all human beings. For over thirty years Pearce has written and lectured internationally on human development and the changing needs of children. He has recently completed The Biology of Transcendence, which explores the biological foundation for what we think of as “spiritual” development. He also coauthored Magical Parent, Magical Child: The Art of Joyful Parenting with Michael Mendizza.

He was a faculty member on child development at the Jung Institute in Switzerland. More recently, he has become a certified HeartMath trainer, further developing his already extensive insights into the heart-brain connection. This connection between the heart and brain is not merely neurological and autonomic, or romantic and metaphoric—it is central to our full development and total health. He is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Institute of HeartMath, and a faculty member at the Omega Institute.

Joe is a father of five, grandfather of twelve and great grandfather to one…for now. His books have been translated into a number of languages, most recently into Dutch and Russian. Joe lives in Virginia and can be reached at pearce2212 [@] yahoo.com

Hi All! We are so excited to be extending an invitation to all TMI graduates to join us for our inaugural Wisdom Series event. The Wisdom Series will be a series of free weekend presentations by the ‘elders’ of the TMI community. This is a chance to honor the work, knowledge, and love of those that have offered so much to TMI through the years, and to continue to share that wisdom with the rest of the members of the TMI community.

The first of these talks will be presented by Joe Pearce on April 25th and 26th at TMI. Joe has penned eight books, with his ninth forthcoming, on a variety of really interesting subjects, but notes that his most recent focus has been on “the biological nature of the mind-heart connection and the manifold states of the consciousness inherent within each of us”. The workshop will discuss nature’s ‘biological plan’ for human development, a genetically inherent design for open-ended creativity and freedom, and its conflict with our dominating cultural-societal demands for conformity. The presentation will draw on neuroscience, nero-cardiology (the “brain” in the heart), the evolutionary nature of our fourfold brain, and the sequential or “stage-specific” development of those inherent structures from birth. We will explore how nature’s plan can be preserved and developed in a child, or recovered in adults in the midst of the mounting hostility, chaos, confusion and danger present in today’s world.

We are looking forward to a wonderful weekend and can’t wait to see the Graduates again!
