Jim Lewis grew up in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.  He attended the University of Houston, earning his doctorate there while working at NASA Johnson Space Center. On graduating in 1957, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, attended flight school, and was deployed to the Far East flying helicopters from the USS Thetis Bay aircraft carrier.  On returning, he was assigned as the primary recovery pilot for the second US manned space flight (Mercury Redstone 4), and completed 24 years of active and reserve duty in 1981. During the early space flight recovery activities, he accepted a job offer from NASA and spent the next four decades with them working the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Shuttle, and Space station programs, spending the last few years as a Division Manager for Space Station. He first heard about The Monroe Institute while attending consciousness classes in Houston and subsequently enrolled in TMI’s Gateway program in August 2016.  Jim will soon complete his 16th TMI on-campus program, and has two primary interests:

  1. Using what he has learned during the TMI experience to aid in healing others.
  2. Helping develop SAM to use its potential to:
    (a) Aid in the classification of consciousness and
    (b) Be used in predictive modes to signal the onset of various states of consciousness.
    (c) Be used in ways yet to be discovered.
