Amara is a shamanic practitioner, mixed media artist, and teacher for the Foundation for Shamanic Studies (FSS). She began her consciousness exploration after experiencing a life-changing event that launched her on a path of self-discovery and personal transformation. While on this quest for understanding, Amara researched and studied diverse religious paths and explored many alternative healing methods. Her studies let her to Robert Monroe's first book which inspired her to take the Gateway Voyage program at The Monroe Institute. Amara's experiences at TMI were so profound that she continued with the Lifeline, Lucid Dreaming, and other advanced residential programs.
In addition to her TMI training, Amara is a graduate of the FSS Three-Year Program of Advanced Initiations in Shamanism and Shamanic Healing, Shamanic Healing Intensive, Harner Shamanic Counseling Program, as well as numerous advanced FSS programs. She has a private shamanic healing practice located in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains of Gatlinburg, Tennessee and is a certified Master Tibetan Sound Bowl Healer, Reiki Master, Soul Collage facilitator, crystal healer, and henna artist dedicated to supporting individuals on their path of healing and personal growth.
Amara has a degree in Marketing Communications and has held positions as a writer, designer, and director. She spent most of her pre-shamanic life in the "world of words" as both the owner of a bookstore and publishing company. Amara is a spiritual blogger and author of Creative Meditation and Manifestation: Using Your 21 Innate Powers to Create Your Life and Dark Night of the Soul: Using Ancestral Traditions to Overcome Depression, Loss, and Grief.
