Ways to Give
Support Our Mission
“What I love about the Monroe Institute, is that it offers programs for the beginning explorer of consciousness as well as for the more practiced and curious consciousness explorer who wants to experience far-flung, non-physical realities. For over 40 years Monroe has been providing exceptional experiences, clarity, and insight to thousands of people worldwide. They've changed lives.” - V. Coburn, J.D.
You are invited to join a growing community of people from all across the globe who are on a path to creating a life of personal freedom, meaning, insight, and happiness.
When you support the Monroe Institute you are helping us to expand our programs, conduct valuable research, and the means for us to share our work with the global community. Your support also helps us to protect and preserve our lush mountainous grounds and facilities, and to provide scholarship assistance for those with limited resources to attend our programs.
Support our mission, of helping people create more meaningful and joyful lives through the guided exploration of expanded consciousness.
We will personalize benefits to honor donations at giving levels above $1,000.

“Thank you. Your gifts to the Monroe Institute ensure the continuation of our consciousness research, the design and development of innovative programs, and the means to make our presence even bigger in the global community.” - Scott Taylor, President & Executive Director
The Robert A. Monroe Legacy Fund honors the memory of the man without whose courage, curiosity, and vision the Monroe Institute would not exist.
Whether you would like to give now or after your lifetime, planning allows you to align your charitable giving with your overall financial and estate plans. If you want to help ensure a lasting contribution to the global awakening of humanity, we can help you find a plan that's right for you.
The work we do is made possible only by the generosity of our friends, volunteers, and partners in industry, foundations, and by individuals.
Remember us in your will. Structure your will to provide for your family first. Then include a gift to the charitable organizations you love. Just a few simple sentences and a meeting with an estate planning attorney are all it takes.
Donate stocks. If you give stocks you’ve owned for more than one year that are worth more than when you purchased them, you’ll qualify for significant tax advantages.
Use Life Insurance to make a gift. There are several ways you can use life insurance to give back to TMI. We can help you explore your options.
Donate from your IRA. Individuals over 70 1/2 years of age, or older, are allowed to make a tax-free donation up to $100,000 from their IRA.

“The only way you can accept and know this extended reality is to experience it yourself.” - Robert A. Monroe
The Monroe Institute evolved from a small research group to a non-profit organization conducting experiential seminars in human consciousness. This quickly led to week-long programs guiding individuals in their own exploration.
Monroe continues to study, investigate, and employ tools and techniques to assist program participants to achieve profoundly expanded states of awareness, and to integrate these experiences in ways that result in happier, healthier, fuller, and more productive lives.
Research and education continue to be a priority at the Monroe Institute.
The Monroe Research Division's mission is to investigate various methods, tools, and techniques to assist people to achieve profoundly expanded states of awareness, and to understand and use these experiences in ways that result in happier, healthier and more personally productive lives.
For details about our current research projects and how you can support Monroe's research efforts, please call Penny Harrison, Development Director, at 434-361-1500 Ext. 126.
“The Monroe Institute has enhanced my life. I am forever grateful for the experience I have received. Thank you so much!” - Jedediah J.
The remarkable, and often life-changing, experiences we have witnessed through our program attendees drive our Scholarship Program. Since the 1970s The Monroe Institute has offered scholarships as a way to make our programs accessible to more people.
Supporting our Scholarship Fund is a great, cost-effective way to build awareness and keep pushing the boundaries of higher consciousness exploration.
For the past ten years, we have offered hope and healing to military veterans and family members dealing with issues of PTSD. You can help with tuition and room and board for veterans and caregivers who might not otherwise be able to attend, with a generous donation to the Veterans Scholarship Fund.
Campus Revitalization Fund
Our Virginia campus is a popular destination for the consciousness community. For 40 years we have proudly maintained, refurbished and enlarged our facilities on two campus locations. It’s time for an upgrade again.
Our facilities are heavily used. We conduct more than 55 retreats a year. Our 22 residential trainers and 23 staff host over 1,200 guests each year at our Virginia campus. Buildings and grounds require constant care. In addition to ongoing maintenance and restoration, we envision facility upgrades and new construction to ensure that we are well-positioned to serve the current and next generation of explorers and change makers seeking transformative experiences.
The campus revitalization campaign is $500,000. Every donation is being matched by an anonymous donor up to $250,000. That is quite a commitment to Monroe and the impact it has on people experiences here.
2020 planned upgrades:
David Francis Hall: roof, carpet, paint, lighting, sound, HD projector, heating & air conditioning, tables, chairs and furnishings.
Nancy Penn Center: roof, carpet, flooring, paint, safety items, electrical upgrades, landscape sculpting and tiling to alleviate water intrusion. Dining room upgrades include flooring, tables & chairs, sound baffles, smoothie bar, kombucha and cold coffee nitro taps.
Highlights of our ten-year plan:
The construction of a new facility, a sustainable organic garden, and hiking trails. The new building design focuses on guest comfort, including en suite bathrooms, exercise and sauna spaces, and a year-round swimming pool, all with a low carbon footprint. A state-of-the-art research lab will be the centerpiece the project, and a place that the world will recognize as a premier human consciousness research center.
