Robert A. Monroe: The Vision Continues
Did your connection to the Institute begin after 1995? If so, you have experienced a TMI that Bob did not.
It is an opportunity to look with fresh appreciation at the monumental contributions Bob made in the lives of millions. Bob’s legacy as a world-changer continues to ripple throughout the multiverse. In the wake of his physical death, Bob’s daughter Laurie Monroe and stepson A.J. Honeycutt said it beautifully in the Spring 1995 issue of the TMI Focus—
To describe what he meant to us is to embrace the sun. His brilliance illuminated our paths, nourished our minds, and warmed our souls. We carry him forever on our own journeys and know fondly that he affected many people this way.
From “In Memoriam: Robert A. Monroe”
Now, almost a quarter of a century later, his vision has played out in ways he may not have predicted.

Did your connection to the Institute begin after 1995? If so, you have experienced a TMI that Bob did not. Much has evolved in the last twenty-four years. Here are a few highlights—
- TMI residential programs have expanded from Bob’s powerful original three (Gateway Voyage, Guidelines, and Lifeline) to include 30 new weeklong and weekend programs, specifically designed to elevate our skills and expand our experience of navigating the nonphysical.
- Growing our global presence was a great passion of Bob’s—and key to his mission to “get it out there.”
- Today, TMI’s Outreach Program is strong in thirty-three countries on six continents.
- The Local Chapter Network was founded, and now serves thirteen countries on five continents. Bob would have loved helping “birth” the LCN. Maybe he did!
- An additional audio technology, Spatial Angle Modulation™ (SAM), has been developed to complement Hemi-Sync®, and continues to be tested, upgraded, and applied.
- Bob’s and Nancy’s dream home atop Roberts Mountain was repurposed as the Roberts Mountain Retreat center (RMR), providing a lovely second venue for programs. It now includes an Annex to house additional guests. Bob’s cabin, where he wrote Ultimate Journey and enjoyed many out-of-body “naps,” became a conference hall.
- Bob felt strongly that research was vital to advance the perception of expanded awareness as a tool of human evolution. He built the isolation booth in the Lab at the Nancy Penn Center (NPC) for that purpose. Later, the Millennium Booth was similarly constructed at RMR for private, customized consciousness expansion sessions and research activities.
The Monroe Institute offers something magical and unique in the “Universe.” Sharing it with you is our greatest purpose, our deepest joy.
- Spectacular twin 23-ton quartz crystals, one at each facility, bookend the energy between the two residential campuses.
- Bob would be amazed at the advances in digital tech and the upgrades we have made. Not to mention social media! TMI currently has 50,000+ followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Our YouTube views exceed 3.5 million.
Perhaps the greatest testament to the value of Bob’s life’s work is the scope of your support of TMI. Your time, energy, and resources make it happen. Thanks to you, in 2018 our fundraising goal was exceeded by 96%!
